Where can I see Red Squirrels?
Red Squirrels can still be seen throughout many parts of north Cumbria and have a stronghold on the Sefton Coast of Lancashire.
Try the following places for a bit of squirrel spotting -
Sefton coast - National Trust properties & Ainsdale National Nature Reserve.
Whinlatter Forest Park, near Keswick, Cumbria - with associated visitor centre and tea shop
Squirrel's Pantry Tea Shop - part of Oakhurst Garden Centre, Lamplugh Road, Cockermouth
Lowther Leisure Park -caravan and camping site - access via public footpath from Eamont Bridge, Penrith to Lowther Castle.
Thirlmere reservoir, near Keswick Cumbria - various forests walks courtesy of United Utilities through the North West's first Red Squirrel Refuge
